Workshop

Kabir ke Shabad with Arun Goyal Ji

September 4–6, 2026

Bodhigram Empowerment Centre

Thano Village, Dehradun

An Invitation

Hello Saathiyon,
This is a soulful invitation to deep dive into the living world of Kabir and other mystic saints with Malwi folk artist Arun Goyal Ji. Over three simple, wisdom and music‑filled days at Bodhigram, we sit close, learn shabads line by line, and explore how their wisdom can quietly transform our everyday life.

What is Mast Magan Workshop

MastMagan Workshop is an intimate, heart‑centred workshop where the guide hold the space. Instead of a festival with many performances, this is a slow baithak – we sit together in circles, listen, sing, ask questions, and allow Kabir and other Saints’ words to touch our own real situations.

Across three days, you will:

  • Learn a few selected shabads from Kabir and other mystic saints in call‑and‑response style.

  • Understand the meaning, context, and bhaav behind each line.

  • Reflect on how these teachings speak to love, family, money, work, anger, ego, and everyday dilemmas.

What awaits you

Learning the shabad
Arun Goyal Ji will teach each song (shabad) slowly – repeating lines, sharing pronunciation, tune, and rhythm – so that even beginners can sing along with confidence.
 Arth and Yatharth
Between songs, we will share life experiences, examples, and simple explanations that make Kabir’s words deeply relatable to modern life.

Sangat and quiet
There will be unhurried time for sitting with the words, walking in nature, and informal conversations over chai, in the tranquil campus of Bodhigram.

About Arun Goyal Ji

Arun Goyal.jpeg

Arun Goyal is a folk artist from the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, where the oral traditions of Kabir and the Nirgun saints continue to flourish. Deeply rooted in this living heritage, he has spent years singing and sharing the poetry of Kabir and other mystic saints in its authentic folk expression.

At MastMagan Workshop, Arun Ji brings not only music but also the spirit of the Malwa tradition - where singing, contemplation, and everyday life come together. His simplicity, warmth, and intimate connection with the saints' wisdom create a space for participants to experience these teachings as a living tradition rather than merely as literature or philosophy.
